drive to chico, cloudy with rain

9"x12" oil on pintura panel
painted from memory; drove to chico on fri nite for the opening reception of the "From the Heart, Small Art" show at Avenue 9 Gallery, in chico, ca where two of my paintings are included
"Lassen, Day After" and "Pudgie Sleeping". it was rainy and i liked the gray and green but did not have time to stop and take pics so just painted it from my impression.

the reception was nice, wine and good snacks, and very crowded! saw several red dots. nice variety and quality of work, paintings, sculpture, "wire drawings", glass work, fiber art. i'm pleased to be included! the show runs thru march 11.

8"x10" oil on clayboard.
this surface really grabs the paint, so i have trouble getting flowing passages.
a trail near the equestrian center, quite a nice walk.

Oil on raymar panel, 10"x12". when i began painting several years ago, I thought still life painting would be boring, but it's actually a favorite motif for me now.

blue yonder

my first painting with acrylic. i am in the process of moving and thought the faster drying attribute of acrylics might be a bonus for the next few weeks. these are some student grade paints available locally, no time to wait for an online order to arrive. very cool to be able to layer color 2 over color 1 in a few minutes with no disturbance of the underlayer. new fun!

rising

an advantage to painting on yupo is the ease of cropping an image, esp in the non objective realm i find sometimes i want to use a part of the whole. this is 8x10" oil.

when a leaf falls in the woods

in person this has a fractured-time quality i like. i think the image might benefit from more work, but it also might die so i will let it stay as is. i have overworked quite a few and lost the original idea.
