Acrylic painting circles

Whenever I use different materials it seems to really help my creative spirit fly. I feel much less invested in the outcome and simply find joy in the process; what a privilege!

Atelier interactive acrylics on dick blick canvas panel 12x16", I really like these paints.

This painting was inspired by my recycled magazine trivet shown on The Handcraft Zone my new craft blog.

Collage garden with handmade paper beads contemporary artwork

A collage using marbled paper, linen, handmade paper beads, scrapbook paper, rice paste and buttonhole twist thread. 8x10" on fluted black matboard.

Although I did some planning before gluing, some of this is done on the fly, spontaneously. Every element affects every other element, moving one piece or changing size or shape seems to require adjustments in other areas and I really wanted to utilize the design on the beautiful gold metallic marbled paper as well. Sky, clouds, rocks, and a stream are represented by the background paper, so it's a very important design element.

collage is really interesting artwork to create, I am having a great time with these!

Collage with bookcloth and distressed oil painting

This collage is handmade from a distressed oil painting, bookcloth, paper beads, matboard, marbled paper and some hemp and linen. I tried to make each side different yet relate to the whole.
8x10" nfs

Collage is a whole new world of artwork for me; the artist has a tremendous amount of freedom with this mixed media art expression.

ALL*MART store illustration

There is a really big *al-mart near my house, it's open 24 hours a day. There's one up the freeway north, and one going south also. It seems like *al-mart is all over, all the time. I shop there, as do many other people. I created an illustration to express the all-pervasiveness of wally's. it's all-verwhelming...
black, white and red all over.

Sunrise at cottonwood creek ranch, photo

We have been having rain and wind here in Northern Cal; last week a series of powerful storms blew in and knocked out power, felled trees and generally made life difficult. I was fortunate to only be without power for a day; some of my neighbors lost theirs for 5 days. My niece has a woodstove, so my son and I spent the night at her place.

Obviously the weather has not been conducive to outdoor painting, so I've been playing in photoshop and Fickr. Found some great tutorial ideas in the Photoshop support group and was able to improve some of my so-so photos. I'd forgotten what a treat it is to indulge in filter fun, and no calories, either!
