End and Beginning

A friend recommended a book, "The Year of You for Creatives" and I can't wait 'til tomorrow to begin! (not that it matters, just sayin' I'm excited!)

A photo for the last day 0f 2021.

Strange Kiwano Fruit

Saw this @ safeway on tues. I asked the greens person about it, and she told me to take it home for free, try it and let her know how I liked it. I thought that was awesome, cuz I think it was marked at $5 which is a bit much for a strange fruit. She also retorted "alien brains" when I asked about the flesh; so yeah, definitely intriguing!

My impression of the taste is kiwi/lime,  it is kinda slimy and the seeds are soft so it goes down easy. I would pay for one. Also a lovely photographic subject!

Black n White n Low Clarity

Going to start a b & w photo composition class, and thought I'd end 2015 with photo intended to be about the spirit rather than the form.
Lensbaby sweet 35 gave me the blurred edges I love, and I turned down clarity to get the dream like feeling in the center.I like how the light brings out the little birds and the massive overarching Oak tree.  Happy New Year!

Fun with Trees

Went to a photo workshop with Neil and Susan Silverman last weekend in Red Bluff. It was fun and informative; the Silvermans are great photographers and teachers. So, being myself and being inspired =

Sweet Butterflies!

From the butterfly workshop, a small blue with a big dark one in the back that helps set it off. The organizer of this workshop arrived a little earlier and poured cups of water, taken from the nearby creek, onto a few spots of the gravely road. This attracted dozens of the little beauties out to where we could easily photograph them. (I hope I am not revealing too much!)

One Swallow Swooping

This photo is a swallow flying over Cottonwood Creek; there were two of them seemingly thrilled to be using their flying abilities. They were swiftly dashing and swooping and turning and diving thru the air. My equipment (Tamron 70-300) could not keep up with them, so I turned it into a low sat abstract photograph with Lightroom.

Grape Ivy Leaves

Packing to move, rediscovered some lovely dried leaves tucked into a stack of papers. And some naturally dried ones for flavor. Canon 70d, 100mm f2.8L lens.
Interesting how the leaves and basket are matching colors.

Imagining with Nature

An image I truly enjoyed making. A leaf in the grass, twirling camera technique. Canon 70D, 100mm f2.8 macro lens. Lightroom split toning.
I am an abstract expressionist photographer at times.

First Day

I wonder how many people are posting on their blogs today!?
This year I will do more photography! In this shot of a neighbor's outdoor xmas deco, I turned the sky green with Lightroom to be more seasonally fitting.

Natural Fall Beauty

The lensbaby spark is a fun and arty addition to my lens lineup.  Tho my professional photographer friends might not agree, I am thoroughly enjoying the spark's ability to capture the beauty of imperfection.

#wwpw2014 Redding, Ca

A little behind in posting! Geez, I have been very busy with work but gettin a just right slowdown now. I went with the Shasta Photo Club to participate in this year's world wide photo walk instigated by Scott Kelby. About 9 or 10 of us went to the McConnell Arboretum @ 7 a m on Oct 11.
And here is a photo of some native grasses (or weeds) highlighted by the morning sun.

Gravensteins

I like all the roundness here, and the colors and patterns. I actually made the ceramic bowl many years ago. The apples are Gravensteins; when I was a girl we had some apple trees of this type. So this simple photo of a bowl of apples has some meaning to me; some connection to my past. And I feel quite satisfied creating this photograph. Canon 70d, 40mm stm lens.
