ATCs inspired by artist Emily Carr

Recently read a book titled "The Forest Lover" by Susan Vreeland. It's a biographical novel about the Canadian artist Emily Carr who lived from the 1870's to 1945. She traveled to villages and painted scenes of village life and totem poles; eventually, she studied painting in Paris.

I do prefer to paint outdoors, but the air is unhealthy from all the fires in the area (Northern California) so I decided to do some indoor art. Assembled these ATCs (artist trading cards) from matboard, image transfers, gilders paste, hemp cord, a "gold coin", acrylic medium, words cut-out from the book (exciting for a catholic school educated girl!) and a leaf drawn on paper. A fun project!
Artist trading cards are 2.5x3.5", and can be painted, drawn, collaged or whatever the artist chooses.

digital landscape painting

A creation from imagination using Corel "painter essentials 4" software. i like to use my fingers on the touchpad, rather than my digital tablet, like fingerpainting.
